Phuket (delayed post)

Seafood dinner at the beach

After the great time we had in Chiang Mai, Phuket was a more subdued way to finish the trip. It rained quite a bit (unsurprisingly) and the hotel I’d booked was gorgeous and right near the night market, but also right across the road from a bar featuring live music… until midnight every night.

Nevertheless, we packed in a lot of sightseeing. We spent a couple of hours trying lots of delicious food at the night market around the corner from the hotel, where hundreds of stalls are set up to sell one or two specialties.

Another highlight was visiting the rum distillery for a tour and tasting. I’m not a big rum drinker, but there were some interesting botanical mixes, and some which didn’t quite hit the spot.

After getting a little tipsy on rum, we headed to the beach for a seafood dinner. Great food and lots of variety – as long as you like seafood!
