Istanbul – Konya

We had a Turkish Bath this morning – wooowwww. First the sauna (I didn’t wear my glasses this time so they haven’t lost their paint like when I was in Jordan!) then scrubbed down with loofah type thing, then washed with a pillowcase filled with soap suds (very relaxing), then massage, then bowls of water thrown over me to rinse off. What an experience!

We got to Konya safe and sound – with very fast otobus drivers then taxi drivers who want to be rally racers!

We had a great day of wandering around – first the the Mevlana museum where the Whirling Dervishes come from which was interesting. we saw the largest and smallest Koran in the world!

We had trouble getting brekky actually – Konya is a conservative religious town and snce it’s still Ramadan, none of the coffee shops etc were open until 10! The others got bread for brekky, but I’ve been making do with my crackers and rice cakes at the hotel, so this morning I had a muesli bar that I’d brought and some potato chips.

We wandered around a bit looking at shops, and I added to my jewellery collection, before we headed back on the otobus!
