Istanbul Day 3

We did sightseeing today – Aya Sofia and the Blue Mosque, the the Hippodrome. Gorgeous, but it was raining pretty hard at times and we all got saturated.

Then we popped into the spice market (Egyptian Market) for more cool things (mainly food actually – meats and cheese and nougat and turkish delight and tea and spices…)

Once we’d made it back on the very crowded trams, we got changed and popped back on the tram over the Galatea Bridge to another dance class. The studio was up a HUGE hill, then up four flights of stairs! What is it with stairs this trip!

This class was fabulous. Aytul didn’t speak any English, so she had an interpreter. Amazingly, it didn’t really matter as we just copied her mainly! It was 4/5 Romany style dance like the one yesterday but this one was more fluid and feminine and a bit less painful to do. Plus there was a resident kitty at the studio. 🙂

Tonight we had a dinner and show – folk dancing and belly dance. One good dancer, one FABulous one, and one who made us cringe! Gave us something to gossip about, but all up a very enjoyable night.
