Cologne Day 2

Today we checked out souvenirs and then caught the tour bus around the city. We saw some of the sights and bumped our way through the building site that is central Cologne for a whole until we came to the bank of the Rhine, where there’s a Chocolate Museum.

The chocolate shop there was amazing – sooooo much yumminess! Haven’t tried any of it yet, but I don’t think it’ll last… beautiful white chocolate with huge specks of vanilla, and so many flavours of Lindt! I settled for two varieties – fig caramel and blueberry and lavender. There was also a heap of chili ones, like pomegrante chili! Yum.

Unfortunately we didnt quite make it back from the shop at the chocolate museum in time to stay with the bus, so we were forced to have some gorgeous hazelnut hot chocolate sitting in the chocolate cafe overlooking the Rhine, then wandered into the Old City. We saw some lovely old buildings before making our way to 4711, home of Eau de Cologne.

Got some cool pressies for people there and continued back to the Dom, passing through more of the shopping district. We bought more souvenirs and looked around for a very late lunch. It was raining by this time so we just wanted something quick. We’d been amazed by the shops that sold nothing but chips, so we tried one out. Not too bad.
