Our whirlwind trip of New Zealand in 10 days started in the South Island, in Christchurch.
We headed south to Dunedin, a gorgeous, hilly town reminiscent of Britain, including the hills. It’s got the steepest street in the southern hemisphere! I was happy to walk slooooowly here.
The Cadbury Factory is a big attraction here, so we donned hair nets (and beard nets in R’s case!) in order to take the tour.
Apparently the Dunedin Train Station is one of the most-photographed buildings! We thought we’d do our bit to keep it on the list…
We took a boat trip and a walk out in the countryside to meet some animals. We saw albatross, seals, penguins, plus it was Very Cold, even in the middle of summer!
Somehow we managed to miss visiting the Marlborough wine region (who planned this holiday, anyway??) and headed up the coast to catch a ferry across to the North Island and Wellington.
